Here is the second painting in the series "Local Architectural

Color and Elements". I felt like I got the perspective mostly right with this painting.  The details are hard, I have to admit. 

But it's only #2 so hopefully progression will show itself. 

Across the Fence

Across the fence, pastel on paper, 12x9"

I felt like working outside with my pastels this morning, but I couldn't venture too far. I have colorful views all around me so I just picked one and began. This one turned out to my liking. The sun was high, the light was bright and the colors vivid. Nothing better.

I continued with another urban scene. I took this photo walking back to the high school where Barrett has orchestra rehearsal, after I had packed up my painting gear.  The day, although beautiful and sunny was too windy to paint, but perfect for photos.  There is a rail yard with turn-of-the-century warehouses near the school, and it's a terrific place for photos.  The painting is one of the first urban landscapes I've done in a while and I'm out of practice. 30 years ago, these are the scenes I painted religiously. Time to hone in again.

Corner House

I pass this house frequently, and I have always loved it. Besides the Arts and Crafts bungalow style, which I love, it sits on a corner lot which really shows off it's beautiful landscape. 

As I have been doing consciously with the last few paintings, I did not sweat the small stuff, and worked with broader goals and strokes.
